Skyscanner.net have released their latest set of figures showing the most searched for flight destinations from the UK.
The top 10 in February remains mostly unchanged from the previous month; with Spain remaining dominant claiming four of the top five destinations, although Lanzarote has slipped from 8th to 11th position in the latest figures. A big climber was Dublin, rising four places to become the 9th most searched for destination – although this may be due in large part in an increased demand for flights as we approach St Patrick’s Day.
Spain continues to be comfortably the most popular destination for British sun-seekers; which will come as welcome news to a country hit harder than most by the recent economic crisis. What is unclear is the extent to which prices have fallen in Spainish resorts as they try to compete with the cheaper destinations in Portugal, Greece and Turkey; and whether such price reductions are sustainable in an industry which has received little help from its government.
The top 10:
1 Malaga (Spain) [-] 2 Alicante (Spain) [-] 3 Tenerife (Spain) [-] 4 Faro (Portugal) [-] 5 Palma (Spain) [-] 6 London (UK) [-] 7 New York (USA) [-] 8 Amsterdam (Netherlands) [+2] 9 Dublin (Ireland) [+4] 10 Dalaman (Turkey) [-1]
